EUDORA WINS THE CALIFORNIA OAKS. Biq Crowd Sees the Racinq at Oakland, the Bad Weather Notwithstandinq. Oakland Cal.. February 2.— -The California Oaks was won today by II. It. Schafiers BudOTa at odds of , to 1 over the abbreviated distance of one mil--and a sixteenth. The starters numbered an even dozen and the race was the best contest of any that had been decided in the history of the stake. The three public choices, Grace ■.. Miss Officious and Dollie Hollars followed he winner and linished exactly in the order in which they were favored iu the betting. Despite the unfavorable weather end track conditions that prevailed during the afternoon 10,000 rare goers wen attracted to the Emeryville course by the ■plendM card that was offered up for their dolecta lion. In addition to the 1 ig fixture the program con tained a handicap at a mile and a sixteenth, which engaged a superior lot of horses, including the crack Tony Fau-t. M. in the third with a theatrical advance of *4 0 after W. M. Cain had Stopped bidding at 00. Thirty four bookmakers occupied positions in the ring.
