Refined waa outbroke at the start and took the Inside route, ran in behind Mafalda until on the turn Into Hie homestretch, where she came through next to the rail and drew oat ha win at her leisure. Dapple Gold raa on the oatslde until on the turn for home, where he cat across to the inside, finished fast and wore down the tiring Mafalda In the last sixteenth. The latter set the pan until in the last rarioag and finished gamely, but tiring. Pride Of Woodstock could never get u| Basil fan well to the stretch, but averted across to the Inside at the eighth post. The winner was entered tar 51,309; no bid. Rubywiek, on the extreme outside in the run down the backstn ten, dropped lack in the tir--t furlong, but came again in tlm last quarter and finished with a rush. The Englishman, suddenly improved, was a keen contender at all stages and took the lead when si raightcned out in the homestretch, but was flagging at the end and took a tired swerve from the middle of the track to the inside rail. St. Yalentine was sent for the lead too soon and had nothing left when the first two caught him. Besterling got off badly and was in the rough going for the entire-trip and was always outrun.
