Mi., April B. — The weather was unfavorable for racing at Iimlico today. A hard rain 1 fell last night ami while it cleared away in the . forenoon the showers came down again during the 1 afternoon and spoiled the enjoyment of Ihe race I goers. The track was deep in mud and cab ul.it ions I as to form were sadly upset. The talent started the I day. however, with a winner. Kl Dorado had 1 worked a mile in 1:42, and. with his known fondness for mud. he seemed a leal good thing. The minute Ihe layers marked up a price a rush was made , to back him and from an apcalag Of T to .". he went to the post at 1 to 8. Nothing elee was wanted. When the barrier went up El Dorado took the lead and. galloping along in front, won without ever being extended. Betsy Biuford. sailing through the mud as it she loved it. won the second race. oliuosa ma.ie a gallant effort in the stretch, but had to he content with second place. In a jam at the start of the third race St Jeanne was bumped and Sohaller fell oil. the steeple chase furnished a good contest and resulted in a driving tiuish between Frank Somcis and dying Virginian. Croxlou unseated Mr. Taj lor in the tirst time around the field. Mr. Taylor gamely stuck to his horse and remounted him. hut was thiown again and did not finish. The tilth race brought out some «* the best two-year olds on the track and was the medium of heavy speculation. Lawless was the favorite at to 1. but Bilfil and Beckon had much support. A jam at the start interfered with Ihe chances of mauy. Servile particularly sittlering in this respect. Lawless got off well, relished the going and g.illo|ieil out in front all the way. Maid of Carroll ran a good race. Azclina won the sixth race, coming with a rush after Parkville and Anna Smith bad made the pace. In the run down the strcl-h it looked as if Azelina had inlerlcred with the pacemakers, and a claim of foul was lodged both |,.v Diggins and Mi-Carthv. but was not allowed. Ak-ar was well up until the end and then iptit. Fdgely took to the mud as a duck does to water, and won III. BUM race just as his rider pleased. A good card is offered for tomorrow with the Clabaugh Memorial as the fealure and with Bast, Bettie Bouncer. Black Flag; Merry Man. F.tia Louise. Lady Powell: Jubilee. Billie Hibbs. Giles: Kara.
