Paatops, away iu a jam and sharply cut off and interfered with by Belle Shirley. closed a big gap in the last quarter and finished gamely under punishment. Waldorf Belle broke from the outside and was responsible for the interference which occurred assa after the start hut finished fast and gamely. Ifardsfaol outbroke the others and set a fast pace, finished gamely under a drive and outstayed Marmorean. The latter was forced to go around on the outside on the far turn and when entering tbe homestretch but made a determined effort at the furlong post and appeared the winner but tired under punishment. Alia McDonald came fast in the last furlong. Knight of Ivanhoe, shifted to the extreme outside at the pest, got the worst of the start and after being crowded hack in the first sixteenth, was carried wide » Lou entering the homestretch by Marmorean and would probably have won with a good start. The latter, off well and in a forward position all the way. easily aasposed of M.-Atce at the furlong post but waa tiring at the end. Moquette broke well nut lacked speed. Uaber, a rapid breaker, went to the front in the first sixteenth and setting a fast pace drew away on t! e tar turn and was well iu hand at the end. Monvina broke slowly and was forced to work her way up on the outside but finished gamely and easily disposed of tbe others in the stretch run. American Belle was iu a forward position throughout but tired in the final drive. Lady Arion tired after running well to the stretch. Lady Bateman was sharply cut off soon after the start and crowded out. Meloilie was very green at the barrier and propped when the start or ic. The winner was entered for 00; no bid. The latter kept bearing over against the winner on the first turn and had to be pulled out and delayed his move too long but waa steadily gaining on the winner at the end. Halliard moved up with a rush on the turn into the homestretch but tired under punishment in tbe last furlong. High Bear ran well but can do better.
