TOSCANS CAREER AS A RACER. E. A. Whitneys Tuscan managed to finish third at Toronto yesterday;, but he has evidently seen his best days as a racer. This seven-year-old son of Hastings and Toscana has started fourteen times sin.e he won that selling affair at five and a half furlongs at Buffalo. July .". last, and he was not in the money in any of them until yesterday. In fact he finished last in the majority of those races, lie was at his best in 1885 and he does not owe his owner anything. loscan was bred by August Belmont and he scored his first brackets in the colors of his bleeder. Mr. Belmont sold him to the Columbia Stable. Next he was owned by James Blute, who let him go to S. A. Puiuphrey. who in turn disiKtsed of him to his present owner.
