Redondo followed La Gloria closely from the start, passed her at the sixteenth post and, in a hard drive, outgamed her to the finish. La Gloria set a terrific pace and fired badly in the closing strides. J. W. ONeill was saved from the fast early pace, saved ground on the turn forhonie and had no contention for third place. Cousin Kate tired after passing the first turn. The others were beaten off. The winner was entered for 00; no bid. Scratched 08004 Reticent, 108; 09099 Frank Collins, 105. Boll Weevil sprinted to the front at the start, opened up a long lead and, increasing it. won in a canter. Petulant, practically left at the post, made up much ground and finished gamely., Ilorence T. got off forwardly and ran a good race. The others were alwavs outrun. Miss Aleit, showing superior speed, went to the front at once and set a fast pace, raced Peter Sterling into defeat and had enough left at the end to stall off the rush of Jaconio. The latter was saved from the early pace, came with a belated rush at the end and easily took second place from the tiring Peter Sterling. Tiie latter followed the winner closely to the stretch and was tiring fast at the end, hut easily held third place safe. Fantastic had no mishaps and can do much better. Red Hussar ran close up from the start, moved up fast after being straightened out for the stretch run, raced Meadowgreen into defeat and won going away. Abrupt followed the pacemakers closely and out-gained Meadowgreen in the final drive. The latter showed the most early speed, but tiled from setting the pace. Kelpie, much the best at the weights, trailed until well around tiie far turn, then moved up fast and took command after entering the stretch, caught Matahon tiring, raced him into defeat and drew away and won witli ease. Oberon ran forwardly all the way and outgamed Matahon for second place. Too much use was made of Matahon in the early stages, hut he finished gamely, although tiring. Bye Bye II. went to the-front at the start, set the pace and raced Pungent into defeat, drew away in the run through the stretch, but had lo he hustled at the end to stall off the rush of Light Note. The latter was always close up, followed the Readers closely and finished fast. Pungent ran well, hut tired from chasing the winner. Secret made up much ground. Headley tired.
