, ! , , . : PRINCE AHMED WINS FOR FERRISS. Colt Gets Away Good and Lands the Brew- ers Exchange Handicap. Cincinnati. 0.. June 20. Prince Ahmed, which was all but left at the post in the Queen City Handicap, won the Brewers Ex-change Handicap, the feature of an interesting card at Latouia to-dav. Prince Ahmed, however, was favored some- wliat by good racing luck. He was off forwardly and was clear of interference throughout. Gold-proof finished second a nose in front of Colloquy, likewise a nose in front of Hazelthorpe. The latter was probablv best, as she was twice cut off. E. Martin, who rode Colloquy, lodged a claim of foul against Prince Ahmed, but it was not allowed. An interesting feature of the race was the reappearance of Woodson. This horse had not been out until today since his second to Highball in the last American Derby. June IS, 1004. Woodson arrived here from Lexington this morning and a contingent or blue grass turfmen came up to bet on him, but he was evidently not quite keyed up to compete with the best sprinters here. Envoys victory in the overnight handicap was unexepected and was brought about by good racing luck. The Minks did well to land second place from .Miss Lida. which looms up as a dangerous factor for the Latouia Oaks. After the second race D. Austin and T. Taylor were lined 0 and 5 respectively for rough riding. Ada O. Walkers defeat in tlie fifth race was mainly due to interference. T. Steele, on Gilve- dear, "was responsible for the crowding and lie was given to understand that a repetition would mean his immediate suspension. In the closing race jockevs Pickens and Crimniins were each lined 5 for their cowboy tactics. Still Alarm was the onlv successful favorite. His victory was due solely to the hard ride lie got from Lee. John C. Ferriss will leave next week for Saratoga with St. Volma and Prince Ahmed. i ; ;
