APPELLATIONS TO KEEP IN MIND. V. Now Yearlings in Santa Anita Stakes that Have Received Their Names. " Quite a number of Hie owners who have made nominations to the Woodlands, Santa Ana and Colin Stakes for two-year-olds of 190S, and which will be rim at Santa Anita Park early next year, have given names to their youngsters, some good, the majority commonplace and some In bad taste. W. Chamberlain has five, of wlkich the Goldcrest filly, Volga, is said to be speedy. Phil Chiun lias named eight, of which only two are by the same sire, Piute and Madeline Musgrave being by Ethelbert. J. Ilacketts three are all by his fast old-time campaigner. Yellow Tail, and if any one of them has inherited its sires speed, one or more of those stakes should prove its prey. The Canadian owner, J. J. Walsh, has four that are well bred, and the colt Xasmcrlto should prove it good one on that score. In Prudent Thomas W. Williams has a half-brother to his fast sprinter, Prejuicio. His other nomination, Quaker, by Alta-max Shiver, Is well named." J. D. Millin, Caesar Youngs partner formerly, has four by Cunard, for two of which he has appropriated the names of two of the new liners of the Cunard Steamship Company, Mauretania and Csiromia. J. S. Newman has three Texas breds. of which one Is a filly by Jack Do Mund, from the old-time Chicago favorite, Bessie Bisland. Two by Beau Ormonde will attract attention here and are the property of the man who raced Beau Ormonde when he was a real crack. The list of those named is as follows: Property of W.
