Lustig ran in forward pursuit from the start and was wearing the winner down at the end. Metlakatla, away badly, closed a big gap and was a fast going third. The Mighty, virtually left, made up twenty lengths, but swerved into defeat finally. Lady Mirthful finished well. Bantam, still short, showed speed, but tired in the last furlong. Chancellor Walworth was badly interfered with. Judge is short and so is Shady Lad. Zinda showed early speed, but quit badly. Gene Russell was outpaced and surrounded to the stretch, where he "drew out into a whirlwind going second and requires a strong rider to show at her best. The Mist was prominent for six furlongs, but tired finally. Johnny Lyons retired at the end of five and a half furlongs and ran a bad race. Woolma closed up in the last quarter. Andrew B. St. Francis broke slowly, but was well served by the fast pace, came .along at the end on the inside and just failed to get up, but was given the race on a claim of foul. Sevenfull was run to defeat in the first three furlongs and quit very badly. Lady Vera closed a big gap in the last half and is very good. Royal Maxim is out of place in sprints.
