WHAT THE NEWCASTLE STABLE WON. From sixth place In the list of winning owners in 100G the Newcastle Stable moved up to third place this year, but won less money, having won 0,175 then and 1,S92 In 1907. The sturdy colt, McCar-tor, was their main money earner. It was his ill-fortune to have to contend with such clinkers as Peter Pan, Ballot, Frank Gill, Montgomery and Charles Edward, and he was slightly their inferior, but so consistent and so true running that when in receipt of concessions of weight he was dangerous to any of them, as "witness his running Peter Pan to a few inches in tlie fast-run Brighton Handicap. The good mare. Running Water, was next to McCarter in money won, but was not at her best except ,for a brief period, and not so successful as in 19CG. The two-year-olds Spooner and Explosion and the three-year-old Saracinesca were the next best contributors in the order named and the record of "the stable is as follows: Horse. Sts. 1st. 2d. 3d.
