Progress, after six furlongs of sharp pace-making, tired badly in the closing strides. The Sultan responded gamely to urging in the final eighth, tiring only at the end. Fryer was close up in pursuit of the pacemaker until just after passing, the far turn, then moved up last, easily shook Earl Rogers off and won witli plenty to spare. Earl Rogers ran his usual honest race and showed the most speed for six furlongs, but tired in the closing strides. Josies Jewel ran well, but wasunder the whip through the final eighth and tired at the end. Adoration broke flatfooted and trailed far back for the first half, then gradually made up ground and finished fast. First Peep closed a gap and tired in the stretch.
