MANY SENSATIONS IN WMLICO RACING RACINGBanner Banner First in the Steeplechase but Is Disquali ¬ fied for Fouling Sir Wooster Bajtlmore Md x April 23 There were enough Incidents crowded Into tbe racing at Flmlico this afternoon to make the day one long to he remem ¬ bered by racegoers The disqualification of Banner after she had beaten Sir Wooster in easy fashion in the steeplechase a twentyfive minutes delay at the post in the fifth race during which Firebrand dashed through the barrier and bent and twisted the starting gate and put it out of commission a false break in the same race in which half the Held including the oddson favorite Botanist raced three furlongs at top speed and finally tho Injury of one of tbe starters assistants Kddlo Triln who had bis shoulder broken by Firebrand which threw him to the ground in one of his wild lunges at the barrier wen a few of the happenings out of the ordinary ordinaryThe The dlsqiinllfiation of Banner while it pleased the crowd came in for sonic sharp criticism Sir Wooster the beaten favorite trailed In the early running and after taking the last jump moved up on the outside of Banner and the latter carried him a bit wide in the run for the gap to the main track Sir Wooster showed in front for a few strides but at the end tired and Banner closing up again drew away into an easy lead of three lengths There was some Interference but It was so slight that it cut no figure in the result and the race should have been allowed to stand as the horses finished Ban ner pulled up lame as also did Lester L Ilayman and the latter was eased up at the finish I eider who rode King of Spades got u bud looking fall when bis mount went down at the eighth jump but fortunately the rider escaped with a few bruises bruisesThe The attendance was again large and a majority of the races furnished keen contests There were three cloo finishes during the afternoon short heads separating the llrst two in two of the races while In another the winner was first home by a neck neckSecretary Secretary Uiggs received word tiis morning thai Court land Smith and Jay OBrien would be here to ¬ morrow to ride My Grace and Pete l alley In the Klkridge Steeplechase SteeplechaseJ J W Colt and steeplechase Jockey McAfee reached PImlIco iilwwt twenty minutes before this running of todays jumping race When Air Colt learned of jockey Mclnernys accident in yesterdays steeple ¬ chase he brought on McAfee to ride Banner BannerGeorge George Chandler arrived from New York tills morning with five horses Jockey Krause came on with the stable
