REGULATING JOCKEYS ON FRENCH TURF Several new rules to govern jockeys have just been framed by the French Jockey Club No jockey hereafter can ride in a public race unless he is at least thirteen years old and the application for his license must Iw accompanied by a copy of his birth certificate This does not apply to jockeys who are from England however Every applicant for a jock ¬ eys license is also required to forward a subscrip ¬ tion to the Benefit Society for the assistance of trainers jockeys and stable boys Jockeys who live within a radius of eighty miles of Paris have to send 8 others half that amount Under the new regulations apprentices must be not less than twentyone years of age The number of races for apprentices will be materially increased this
