I FAVORITES UNFASHIONABLE AT WINDSOR Shilling and Burns Furnish Excitement by a Duel with the Whips Detroit Mich July 3 Favorites were again bowled over at Windsor this afternoon Miss Mar jorie winner of the opening race being the only choice that made good The percentage of defeated favorites since the opening day lias been fur above the average and if a break does not come soon in the bettors favor they will be forced to look for new bankrolls The racing today was devoid of great interest ordinary class horses making up the fields In all six races racesA A feature not on the program was a duel between jockeys Shilling and Guy Burns In the fifth race Irnth riders repeatedly striking the other with their whips In the stretch drive There was some little crowding as the field made the turn into the home ¬ stretch In which Chipmunk was cut off by Colored Lady Shilling then roughed it a bit with Burns ami the latter hit him with his whip Both boys were called into the stand after the race Burns was suspended for one week while Shilling got off with a 100 fine fineMiss Miss Marjorie ran the fastest mile of the meeting when she turned the trick in the first race in 130 The Garson filly simply played with her opponents and led by a big margin all the way In the third race Christmas ran five and a half furlongs in l0t the first half mile being covered in 47J This filly has been improving right along and it Is doubtful if there are a half dozen tw yearolds racing here canable of beating her herThe The twoyearold filly Nasturtia while being ex ¬ ercised this morning ran away three miles milesSteeplechase Steeplechase jockey C Chandler arrived this morn ¬ ing He Is still on crutches as a result of a fall while riding the Schreiber jumper Dr Logan in a steeplechase at City Park New Orleans last win ¬ ter terK K Diebold got in from New York this morning with three twoyearolds twoyearoldsIn In order to prevent Idle talk of fixed races etc the officials had posted in the paddock and other prominent places about the course the following notice noticeAny Any owner trainer bookmaker clerk or anyone enjoying the privileges from thu association making any charge of fraud in connection with the racing will be denied the privileges of this track includ ¬ ing admission to the grounds unless prompt sub ¬ stantiation of the charges Is furnished furnishedBy By order of the judges judgesJoseph Joseph A Murphy Francis Nelson NelsonA A C McCafferty got In from New York this morning He will assist Frank ONeill in the man ¬ agement of the big stable the latter is racing here
