FAVORITES BADLY ROUTED AT SEATTLE Seattle Wash July 17 Josies Jewel by scoring a nose victory over Eckersall in the fifth race saved favorite hackers from utter ront at The Meadows today All the other favorites were badly beaten four of them finishing outside the money Lulu G Sophomore and J F Donohue made up a trh of winners at long odds all of which were sup ¬ ported by sharpshooters Fast work accounted for the backing accorded the firstnamed The card was made up of unwieldy fields of mediocre horses and the race won by Josies Jewel furnished the only iIose cojitest of the day 1 F Donohue in winning the fourth race at a mile and a quarter ran the distance in 205 clip ¬ ping a half second from the previously existing rec ¬ ord He won in a manner suggesting that he could have done considerably better had it been neces ¬ sary saryAfler Afler the inglorious showing made by El Chihua ¬ hua favorite for tho third race the judges an ¬ nounced the indefinite suspension of jockey Sandy who rode that horse Sandy lias been in wretchedly ad form in the saddle here and his suspension came more as the result of the culmination of a series if bad rides than on account of this specific case caseJ J A Lynch and Ed Hlckok arrived today from Calgary the former with Sam McGibben Head lanee and Athor and the latter with Pelham These horses have been racing successfully over the West Canada Turf Associations circuit The Canadian division of G P McNeils stable is also n route here Iras Dave Weber and De Grammont which Sam Durker sldpiKid to Canada have been sold in that country Lynch reports that promoters of racing in western Canada are planning for a circuit of meetings of not less than a weeks duri llou each for 1909
