LATONIA AND FALL MEETING PROSPECTS What about Latonia Thats the question horse ¬ men want answered says the Cincinnati Enquirer The time is near at hand for the announcement if fall dates and the sooner the management make known their determination to race or not to race the better it will be for the poor horsemen There svlll be a fall meeting at Louisville and also at Lexington and it would be interesting to know whether Latonia is to follow the Falls City start in ahead of the meeting there or have the men behind the Kenton county course decided not to take any more chances on a losing venture and keen the plant closed down for the rest of the season Last seasonLast week there was a very interesting story going the rounds that Cincinnati capital would likely buy out the Louis A Cella holdings in the Latonia track to get rid of him so that the controlling in terest would be in the hands of Cincinnati ami Lovington business men This sounded very good as did also the story that the meeting at the over theriver course would last sixty days in view Of the uncertainty OrleansIf of the situation in New Orleans If racing can be put on a paying basis at La ¬ tonia a sixtyday meeting would put the horse owners in good humor They see nothing bnt hard times in sight for them as the cold months ap ¬ proach on the calendar and if Latonia will come out with the announcement that there is to be st long meeting at the course this fall it will cor tainly be joyous news to the meu who have to de ¬ pend on their horses for a living livingThe The one thing that is puzzling everybody Is the course the Latonia management will pursue in the matter of betting The luutucls were au awful farce last spring There is every reason to believe they would again be a failure if put back In opera ¬ tion From this the conclusion is reached that Latonia will race perhaps sixty days and the betting will be done In the books or not at all
