LEXINGTONS AUTUMN MEETING OVER Good Attendance Lively Wagering and Excellent Racing Mark the Last Day Lexington Ky September 20 The Kentucky As ¬ sociations fail meeting of seven days closed this afternoon with a loss to the track owners of about 4500 The expenses of the meeting including the money distributed in purses was about 10000 The total receipts were approximately 11500 The total amount of money watered during the meeting was 114910 of which 70400 was through the inutuels and 38510 through the auctions The as ¬ sociations commission on this was 574550 The gate and privileges brought in about 5800 From a racing standpoint the meeting was an excellent one and the weather throughout was perfect The track was at its best and time made above the average The racing was uncommonly clean There was less rough riding than usual usualSpirited Spirited contests and the bowling over of the ma ¬ jority of the favorites marked the racing tixlay Aspirin the choice for the opening race was beaten a head by Cordova and it was the opinion of the majority of the horsemen that Walsh clearly out ¬ rode Butler Dainty Dame was a 5 to 2 choice over the field for the second race and here again Butler was censured He seemed unable to avoid pockets The filly had a rough trip and was not equal to the task of overhauling the lucky Merrick Mattie Mack messed about in the third race could not get up early enough to beat out Huerfano the 100 horse which more than won himself out for Hughes Brothers this afternoon Alice Baird the choice for the fourth race was much the best and easily de ¬ feated Harriet Rowe which had made the running to the stretch The meeting ended with a head finish between the favorite Carew and Kennewick This time Butler outrode Walsh WalshPresiding Presiding Judge Price starter Holtman minor otficlals and the mutnel crews left tonight for Louis ¬ ville Many of the horsemen are shipping to the Falls City tonight Others go tomorrow and Mon ¬ day daySecretary Secretary Letcher was not able to leave his room today He is a very sick man manChairman Chairman J P Chinn of the State Racing Com ¬ mission was at the track today He made the an ¬ nouncement that he will return to racing actively the coming winter He has forty horses at bis farm near Harrodsburg and they will be shipped to Cali ¬ fornia to join the twenty that his son Phil will ship to the coast Phil Chinii will do the training of this big stable stableEdward Edward Corrigan returning from Cincinnati last night was at the track this afternoon He had no expression to make concerning the probability of racing in New Orleans the coming winter other than that he expected the matter would be de ¬ termined at a meeting to be held in Cincinnati or Louisville Monday If Joseph li Rhlnock Is well enough to make the trip to Louisville the meeting will be held there thereAttorney Attorney Harvey Myers of the Latonia Jockey Club spent the afternoon at the track He could make no positive statement concerning a fall meet ¬ ing at Latonia but was inclined to the opinion that the dates allotted bv the State Racing Commis ¬ sion would be occupied Harry occupiedHarry Stanhope received a cablegram from Will lam Allison at London saying that his Watercress Marechal Neil colt had sold for SOO guineas in ¬ stead of 700 as was published Iu the American newspapers newspapersThe The stallion Ilermis bought by Henry M Ziegler for 900 at the Holmdel sale arrived here last night and was sent this morning to Highland Farm FarmColonel Colonel W E Applegates yearling filly by Wools thorpe Lillle R worked a quarter for trahier Ross this morning in 23i seconds
