BELMONT TO CONTINUE RACING HERE. Lexington. Ky.. October 31. August Belmont, in the course of a letter written at New York Tuesday last to .Touett Shouse of this city, says: "With, regard to mv plans for racing 1n this country. I picked out eight of tlie best yearlings tliat 1 thought I had and left them here with. Whalen. I also have Field Mouse. Practical. Goodheart. Half Sovereign and a colt I thought very promising, the two-year-old Blelodeon. by Collar Mem Sahib, a Ladas marc. I have forty weanlings at The Nursery, thirteen of which are by Rock Sand. I have always sent a certain number to England and, if racing has not improved. I shall probably send over a large draft from that lot. Otherwise next year my yearling entries will be complete In any stakes that may be opened bv our racing associations. I have not the slightest "idea of giving up racing, but It is much better for large stables to keep their hand in and race abroad than to be selling out and abandoning their stables and breeding establishments altogether, as .some of our racing men and breeders are apparently beginning to do."
