Won driving: second and third the same. Jolly, running in much improved form-and away fast, wore Zeola down in the first quarter and, setting a fast pace, had enough in reserve to outstay Aspirin in the final drive. The latter, away slowly and taken wide most of the trip, finished fast and gamely and would have won in a few more strides. Zeola showed much speed and tired after going a half, but held on well in the closing strides. Buffons was well up all the way. Anemonella ran a good race. Anne McGee ran poorly and was never a serious contender. There was a jam soon after the start, causing Garner to be unseated from Gliding Belle. The winner was entered for 00; no bid. Mortiboy set the pace fast to the stretch and tired slightly after going three-quarters, but came again in the last furlong and was holding his own at the end. Imboden closed a gan steadily and went well throughout. Hannibal Bey showed speed, but quit after going three-quarters. Oroonoka had no mishaps. Tivolini sulked. Sally Preston showed great speed and-set a terrific pace for a mile, but tired in the last furlong. Kerche-val ran with a choppy stride and was beaten off all the way. Michael Augelo was well up for a half and m.Kje a good effort on the stretch turn, but was in close quarters through the last fur-leng. Nlm-Ijus set the pace from the start, drew away from Besom on the backstretch and carried him very wide when the latter moved up on the far -turn and drew away decisively in the last furlong. Besom followed the leader until on the turn out of the backstretch, then made a determined effort on the turn into the homestretch, but tired in the final drive. Live AVire began slowly and dropped back in the first quarter, then closed a big gap and, finishing gamely, was gaining on the leaders at every stride near the end. Wyckoff ran well. The latter set the early pace and raced Gramsar into defeat, hut went very wide when entering the homestretch and was carried out again in the stretch run by the winner. AAhip Top. outrun for the first six furlongs, closed a big gap and finished gamely. Miss Catesby ran fairly well. Gramsar ran prominently to the stretch and quit. AVon driving: second and third the same., Sir Wooster, a very easv fencer, dashed to the front in the second time around and drew away into a commanding lead, then tired, but finished gamely under punishment and outstayed Malacca in a bumping finish. Malacca made a game challenge when going to the last fence, where he collided with Sir AVooster with great force, then rallied and almost got up. Algie showed plenty of speed, jumped well and wus a keen contender all the way. Jim McGill struck one of the posts on the turn after taking the ninth jump. Rye Bov fell at the fifteenth and AVoodside at the sixteenth jumps.
