NOTES OF THE TURF. R. T. Offutt has a two-year-old maiden colt in his stable at Santa Anita Park which has never started, but to which is credited the fastest work-out of the season, live-eighths in l:0Jt. It now develops that Orbicular, wliieh was offered at auction last week at Dallas, was lwught in by his owner. Clayton Morris, who did not consider the highest bid. ,170. as satisfactory. It is now said that I. C. Walker of San Antonio. Texas, secured Orbicular for the reported price of ,000. Orbicular -will be taken to California in the string of 1$. O. Bunbury. The yearlings4 of the F. A. Forsythe stable, now quartered at Oakland under the care of trainer R. Colston, are a likely-looking lot. The majority of them were bred on the Forsythe farm.
