Von Tromp, from an inside slow start, steadily improved his position and closed a big gap into a fart going tecond. Merrill was forwardly placed throughout and is improving. Apto Oro. after prominent pursuit, was badly shut off at the half and tired in the closing strides. Ornate, away badly, closed a big gap in a fast finish. Coppit made up much ground from a bad start. Captain John, away badly and having rough going, closed a tremendous -gap inadequately ridden. Osceola was well up for five furlongs. Carmisa was quickly shuilled to the rear. Overton outbroke and outpaced the others to the final sixteenth, then tired and was crowded out by the winner and forced to pull up in the last couple of strides. Neva Lee. after trailing patiently within hailing distance, closed up swiftly on the inside, but was securely pocketed in the last furlong of a cracking effort.
