Banthel outbroke and outpaced the others for a half mile, but succumbed readily to The Vicar in the closing drive. Pops, forwardly placed throughout, was short. Deviser, after early prominence,, was crowded back at the half and came again. Wamboro ran in prominent contention to the stretch and dropped out. Johnny White was gaining in the stretch. Gene Russell, sore and unfit, was hopelessly outrun to the stretch, but finished moderately well. Exchequer ran forwardlv for five furlr.ngs and was short. Duke of Orleans was gaining at the end.
