NEW STAKES FOR LOUISVILLE MEETING Louisville Ky January 12 At a meeting of the directors of the New Louisville Jockey Cub held yesterday the subject of adding several slake races to the program of the spring meeting at Churchill Downs was given consideration President Grainger and Matt J Wiiin tlgured that the New Louisville Jockey Club at the coming spring meeting could af ¬ ford several additional stakes with the idea of at ¬ tracting the best horses in the west It wan decided to hang up between 4000 and 5000 far these cieuts cieutsLyman Lyman H Davis the racing secretary will frame the conditions of the races It is thought likely that one of the events will be for threeyearolds and over at a distance of a mile and a sixteenth or more moreFew Few if any improvements are needed at Churchill Downs and the plant will be in tine shape for the spring races Colonel WInn in company with Colonel Andrew Venie a director in the New IVouis ville Jockey Club visited Churchill Downs yesterday jind were impressed with the condition of the track William Noble is in charge of the track during the absence of Lyman Davis and Harrv Carr in Mexico and he has been doing good work
