HUNT CLUBS HAVE AMBITIOUS PLANS PLANSNew New York January li At the annual meeting of the hunts committee of the National Steepleclmso and Hunt Association and a general meeting of the representatives of the hunt clubs of the country the representation was such as to practically guarantee a decided improvement in amateur racing during the coming season seasonThe The hunt clubs of Maryland Virginia Pennsyl ¬ vania New Jersey Ohio Massachusetts South Caro ¬ lina Georgia Vermont as well as those of this state have entered into the movement to broaden and improve their branch of racing They will ar ¬ range a series of meetings under hunt club auspices Events for gentlemen riders will be features with Interstate cups and prizes for hunters galloways and the other classes that go to make up amateur racing racingLast Last season under the hunt rules there were thirtynine days of racing the majority of the meet ¬ ings being of one and two days duration Thov proved so satisfactory from a purely sporting point of view that the hunts committee has been assured a decided increase In the number of meeting Some of those interested have promised invitation meet ¬ ings at which all attending will be the guests of tho gentlemen at whose private tracks the meetings will he held The hunts committee for 1010 is as follows Chair ¬ man A J A Devereiix Pennsylvania vicechair ¬ man O K Harrison Jr Maryland treasurer Joseph W Burden New England Harry W Smith irginia Fletcher Harper New York Charles Phzer New Jersey A Henry Higginson N S II A Harry S Page N S II A John E Cowden A S II A ADates Dates were granted the Maryland United Hunts for a spring and fall meeting The dates approval of were May 20 28 0 and September 1 3 5 5The The officials of the meetings will be Frank J Bryan presiding judge and clerk of the course illiain P Rigrs associate Judge and clerk of the scales Elmer Wilson starter William M Manly and Rodnvpnd C Stewart stewards stewardsThe The dates of the Country Club meeting at Brook line approvedThe Mass June 15 and IT were approved The application of the Oak Ridge Hounds for recognition was referred to Harry W Smith the representative of Virginia
