Whitney stable Mr KreneK low lioi es left in Kuglnnd and Mr AMiuiiH gwd ttilt Sir Martin will come in for iitttMition but in IPHKT degree than will attach to hlKk Broom SiilHe of Niivjirro colt Top o the Morning and tht other proved go id ones In charge of Jack Joyner at Newmarket To these Mr Whit ¬ ney has added a reinfovcement of seventeen two yeiirolds lifteeu of Ills own breeding ami two nct thoroughbred and engender hopes of evpn a greater measure of succes In the racing of 1010 They nre highly regarded in England mid the following by the wellknown writer Vigilant in a recent edition of London Sportsman cannot fail to prove interesting to American readers f fAll All of Joyners horsos have wintered most sails faetorily preseiit a clean bill of health and it if with some confidence expected that haying now ber come thoroughly acclimatized thov will Improve on anything they have yet accomplished r rTlie Tlie liveyearold Delirium a bay gelding by Sniiilringhain out of Forget which closed the season by winning three races off the reel has to all aif pearanccs done exceptionally well and is a great slashing horse of enormous power and great bone that might make a toysawyer among steeplechasers especially K his dam luis already bred some goofl ones at the sport sportThis This is a hint which may commend itself io the consideration of owners on the lookout for a Grand National horse as for instance that enterprising and plucky young sportsman Dermot McCalmpnt for 1 doubt not that II S Persse would b only too pleased to take him in hand and school him for crosscountry purposes Not for one moment howj cver do I imagine that Mr Whitney will be pre ¬ pared to part with him yet awhile One of the handsquicst horses in training ij Perseus by Persiaiinon out of Urania a bright chestnut fouryearold that has made perceptible advance as regards looks and may like the most of his fires progeny have made more than average improvement He was no dunce last year as be won three of his engagements and should do better still this es ¬ pecially as he looks like making a good stayer j jA A nice quality horse is Bobbin by Meddler out of Ilandspun which has grown and muscled np and will not unlikely prove formidable over short courses iHing as strong as a castle and np to welter weights Of very similar character is Hillside bay gelding by Hamburg out of Moruingside for if not quitw as pretty lie is none the less goodlooking enough for anything and has completely outgrown the somewhat cumbersome appearance that characterize him last year wjieii he won twice Field Daisy a chestnut gelding by Hamburg out of Daisy F1 has yet to earn a winning bracket his form so far having been moderate only but he is just the sort of customer for leading the two yearolds In their work and will be worth more than Ills keep if for that purpose alone j jOf Of the threeyearolds Whisk Broom a chestnut colt by Broomstick out of Audience is a big com ¬ manding bloodlike horse that appears to have done well in every respect He may just lack the superfine quality of his contemporaries Leinberg anil Neil Govv but for power and substance will compare with either in fact be is a very nice horse and admitting that he appears to have no chance on paper With the two cracks above named it is to lie regretted that he is not entered for the Derby DerbyOti Oti the other haiiil this is a cloud which niay have its silver liiiing for with no Epsom engage ¬ ment in view Joyner will be able to concentrate his attention on training hini csueelally for the Two Thousand Guineas and the Newmarket Stakes iii om or both of which races he is not unlikely to play a prominent part On shorter legs and not of quite the same scope the colt by Broomstick out of Sallie of Navarre which is surely how worthv of a name Plantagcnet might be suggested as appropriate is a trenieii dously powerful and goodlo klng horse and th t lie is possessed of the gift of going we have had good evidence seeiiig that hi not only slammed Wlnkipop Moyglare Thalia Soiisy Bess and otlier useful twoyeaivolds in the Allngtoii Plate at the Nwmarket Second October meeting biit two dnvs later came out again as fresh as paint to give Charles OMalley a decisive beating in the Prendcr gast Stakes He StakesHe bus some nice engagements one or more of which Jie should wiA with ordinary luck but such events ns tlic Two Tiioiisnnd Guineas and the Derby may prove alittle beyond bis compass as also Unit of either New Castle or the colt by Hamburg out of Blno Girl Tlie first Jnanied son of Feddlcr and Homespun is rather n washy chestnut in color Aybieh is jio recommendation but he can go n bit and as he looks like coining quickly to hand may be seen to advantage early in the season seasonThe The Blue Girl is one of the oldfashioned sort i and a typical Hamburg ajxint which there is niueb to admire though be may be lacking s niewhat in quality As a rule the American horsps do not excel in the direction of stamina but this fellow may prove an exception exceptionTop Top o the Slorning bay gelding by Hamburg out of Morningsidc is a brother to Hillside to whom ho hears i striking resemblanpe He Is a nice horse gifted with fine speed as witness three consecutive victories Avitb which he wound up last year and should be hard to beat over short courses coursesOversight Oversight by Ballyhoo Bey out of Forget is a bav gelding of the wirr sort but does hot appear tohave grown pinch He was thrice a winner last year aiid ran consistently well in all his races and being one that will hot rccmire hard training mar le worth keeping in mind for Lincoln or some such earlv meeting iV goodsizwl wearandtear kind of lillr is that by Irish Lad out of Handspnn which AVOU two of four races In which she played I a part as a twoyear dd On form she has some ground to make IIP liefore she can be classed with the Iwst of her ago and sex but having gone all the right way during the recess will likely enough improve on anything she has yet achieved achievedTaken Taken altogether he twoyearolds are not such ari impressivelooking lot as last seasons contingent nt the corresponding time but there are some very nice youngsters among them all the same The Imv1 colt iiv Hamburg out of Endurance by Right is a big horse of exceptional power and substance with perfect action aid should do credit to his dam Which was one of the best mares in America AmericaOf Of more bloodlike quality the roan or chestnut colt by Hamburg out of Mineola takes the eyes as unite of the first class being of jierfect make and shape with immense reach and power and standing on iaro legs and feet His remarkable color reminds ore forcibly of Tbe Bard years ago though there is more of him Unfortunately he is none too amiable i f thinner aiiV but i lew Iivs since it was doomed advisable to have him added to the list Should that improving operation have the desired effect he i av and probably will prove himself a horse of high class classThe The chestnut colt bv Persimmon out of Dame dOr a brother to Diamond Stud which cost 13000 as a yearling at the Newmarket summer ssiles is i line rangv horse of lovely onality good size and with perfect action arid though he woiild he letter perhaps for n little more depth of girth and heart room is a very handsome horse of which much is hoped hopedAnother Another purchased vearling is the bay gelding by Black Sand out of Valve which cost 300 at Lord Itosolicrys sale A useful sort of horso but not to b compared for looks with the Dame dOr colt coltThe The alliance having worked so satisfactorily last year I may In conclusion add that T II Martin who In iimiuny uIth Dainiv Mahcr and Kempton i annon 11 desjiortlng himself amid the snow and andiV1 iV1 Vavos 1 litz 1is heeii
