BOOKMAKER DIED POOR New York March 9 Hobert G Irving whose leath occurred a day or two ago was one of the iriginal members of tho Metropolitan Hacing Asso iatiou and for over a quarter of a century a book miker Irvlngs experience was marked by many urns of fortune At times his wealth was esti uated at over half a million dollars and no bet vas too largo for him to accept In fact he had the reputation in his palmy days of never being bluffed out of accepting a hot regardless of odds and amount amountHe He had two hobbles one was collecting valuable paintings and the other rare lxx ks His collections at one time were worth over 100000 He was betting commissioner for Mike Dwver for several years and was a familiar figure at the race tracks about Xew York When he died he left little beyond a small amount of insurance Irving at various times had been in partnership with prominent Imok makers one of them being Charles Davis He wis sixtyfour years of age and leaves a widow oii unit married daughter
