GOSSIP FROM KENTUCKY TRAINING GROUNDS Louisville Ivy March The big stable of T II Stevens bus arrived at Churchill Downs from Lexington and the horses are now housed in one of the barns on the south side of the track in the row where the horses of George J Long Walter S Hopkins and Carroll B Ueid are quartered The string iu in charge of trainer John Stevens a son of T H Stevens who developed and raced last sea ¬ son that good selling plater Tom Holland There are thirteen horses in trainer Stevens care the older ones being Dick Goodbar Cloync Procla Azo Crenel and Kline while the other seven members of the stable are twoyearolds the get of Wads worth Seahorse II Governor Foraker and Ingoldsby Tho pick of these are a sister to Agnolo a brother to Procla a colt by Governor Foraker Aprils Lady and a brother to Bernays and the fourmilcr Shi dons After seeing his horses safely housed at Churchill Downs owner T H Stevens left for a twoweeks sojourn at French Lick Springs after which he will return here to remain until after the coming spring meeting Since he sold his Walnut Hill Stock Farm he has moved his stallion Wads worth and broodmares to the place known as the Pettit farm opposite his old country home about six miles from Lexington Sooner or later he will take all his breeding stock in the thoroughbred line to California CaliforniaAVadsworth AVadsworth now twentyone years old is his only stallion as he disposed of Governor Foraker some time ago He has now an even dozen stud matrons and a similar number of yearlings at the Iettit farm and these in due time he will race as all the stock lie now owns is virtually off the market That is he is not hunting buyers though lie has always been a trader and anything iu the horse line he o yns is always for sale at his price Mr Stevens will go after the meeting here to Latouia and then to the Canadian circuit circuitAmong Among the twelve horses of the Uesposs string which have arrived from Juarez are Miss Alert Miss Lidu Hughes Geuimell Norbit Hynes Tommy McGee and Cherokee With them came Busy Mail and J W Youngs Alma Boy ami Valley Stream StreamTrainer Trainer Charles Freeman lias arrived from St Louis to take up the threeyearold Bonnie Brick by Cactus II which has been turned out here all winter Freeman is a brother of Pat Freeman the jockey who rode many winners at Churchill Downs a decade or so ago and who for the last few years has been riding in France FranceSecretary Secretary Lyman H Davis has received from Cali ¬ fornia three additional entries for tho Kentucky Derby of 1011 and one for the Kentucky Oaks of 111 These swell the entries in the former race to the recordbreaking number of 117 and tho Oaks eligibles number 00 The belated entries were made by James Meafanus owner of the good threeyearold Kooky OBrien For the Derby McMauus entered two Stalwart colts Tay Pay and Dublin Minstrel and the Oddfellow colt Star OUyau while for the Oaks he AgnesIt nominated the Golden Maxim filly Golden Agnes It is reported that W F Schultes string of horses will leave for tho east within the next two weeks to race ut the Aqueduct meeting It seems that on account of his recent bereavement Mr Schulte will pay little attention to the turf this year and has left his racing stable in the care of trainer W P Brooks The latter has decided on an early eastern campaign as a result There are eight horses in the Schulte string this season inclu ¬ ding Zlenap and Gliding Belle
