SUGGESTIONS FOR AMATEUR RACES New York March 28 Secretary Frank J Bryan of the Hunts Committee has addressed letters to the various racing secretaries suggesting that some of the races for gentlemen riders during the coining season Ixe made selling handicaps instead of selling races as has lnen the usual case This suggestion has l een made with a view of improving that branch e f the sport The letter also intimated that if such races were offered as a part of a Saturday card tbev would be of greater value for the reason that many of the amateur riders are in employment that would make it much more convenient for them to take part in races on a half holiday It was also shown In the recommendation that a scale of allowances had been framed for the amateur riders whereby those of little experience had a weight allowance that would give them a fairer chance with the ama ¬ teurs of greater experience
