AMATEURS RIDE AT PENSAC0LA. Pensaeola. Fla.. April 22. — The raee in which Sciitlemi n riders sported silks resulted in a well-earned victory for a popular society favorite. Frederick Blount. astride Baleshed. Mr. Brent and Mr. White finished second anil third respectively on C. Clamp and Inspect ion. Messrs. Merritt and McVoy fell troni ! r. Crook and Dry Dollar after the finish because of defective stirrups. The presentation of a silver lovins cup to the winning rider by Admiral Youns. 1. S. N.. was a feature. The largest crowd of the meelins enjoyed an offering of six races. Some of the finishes were close, and as most of the la st -hacked horses were successful, the association hooks quit bis losers on the afternoon. The officials have under Investigation a race of some time ago by Caltha. which is ajteged to have been a "shoo-in." Several riders are mixed up in the affair, hut Jockey Franklin may have to bear the brunt. The officials have decided to accept the entries of Jerando and O. K. Herndon on condition that they be turned over to new trainers. The ntageraai Striag of racers will be shipped to I. alo nia in-xt Monday. M. J. ODonnell will ship to Lexington. Jockeys Chisner and Iptou will go to the same place next Tuesday.
