KENTUCKY AT THRESHOLD OF PROMISING RACING SEASON I i I I • ■ The Kentucky racing season begins at I exington tomorrow. Western racing is now confined to that same Kentucky season and to Chicago lovers of the s|.ort of sports it almost savors of local interest. Lexington. Louisville and Latonia are all within easv traveling distance and it may be set down as assured in advance that many Chieagoans will go south to en.jov a pleasure they are denied at home. The I.exii.gton meeting promises more in the wav of really high-class racing than in a number of vears past. Stakes of good value have been closed and the :esiilt is that horses that otherwise would have been saved for Louisville. Latonia. Canada and the east-era tracks, will be seen in action there and there will be something like a revival of tl Id-time interest and imi ortauce iormerlv attaching to Lexington racing. It is appropriate that the home of the thoroughbred should be reinvested with its long-lost dignity as one of the really great racing centers of the country. The main feature of Saturdays card will bo the Breeders Futurity, for two-year-olds, at a half mile. Ibis event dosed last fall with 1!4 nominations at *■ each.
