Runs Three-Quarters of a Mile in 1:12? in Winning First Start of Season — Hanbridge and Crystal Maid Suffer from Bad Start. Lexington. Ky.. May 4.— T. C. McDowells King"a Daughter, in scoring an easy victory this afternoon in the Lexington Rrewery Handicap, which was the feature of the Kentucky Associations fourth race card, established a new track renin! for three quarters of ■ mile. Her time was 1:12 !. which is one-fit th of a second faster than the previous best time, made by Colhxpiy SeptemlxT 14, 1!K 7. Kings Daughter was making her first start of the year. ;:ml there were some who doubted her fitness to cope with the speedy band to which she was opposed. Her backers gave up their fears soon after barrier lise when she s| eedily overhauled Early Tide and. spri.iting into a long lead, was never seriously in danger of defeat. Hanbridge and Crystal Maid, winch were considered most formidable of the opposition to the Mcl owell mare, were eliminated as serious factors by reason of a bad send-off. which enabled Rarty Tide and Milton R. to finish secoud and third respectively. Big fields prevailed, but the sport was enjoyable. Cowdins defeat of Alice Ceorge was somewhat unexpected. Marsand outclassed her opponents in til** second, and Edward Corrigans Cheiiault had an easy time of it in the fourth. Cold Dust managed to ge"t up in a hard drive to beat Asoirin in the fifth. Edwin I., had to be much the Ix-st in the closiug dash t. successfully overcome the interference he was subjected to. The interference was caused bv J. Wilson, who steered Tom Bigbee for the inner rail going to fee first turn and thereby nearlv caused a spill. He was sharply reprimanded and will have a hearing tomorrow before the stewards. Eor ilisobedien.t at the post jockey K. Martin was suspended for the remainder of the meeting. Jock-«ys Loft us and Wris|w-n were each given two day* for breaking through the barrier. M. J. Winn. Kings Daughter was struck on the left hind ankle as she iTossed In front of Earlv Tide in tlie third race today, but Mr. McDowell says he does uot anticipate any serious results.
