Toronto. Ont.. May 27.— The Breeders Stakes, for three year olds foaled in Canada, the Thorncliffe Purse for hunters on the flat over the mile anil a ijuaiter course, the Heller Skelter Steeplechase and the Leamington Handicap were the feature races offered at Woodbine this afternoon. The Valley Iarin Stables Pariner. winner of the Kings Plate a few days ago. took the Breeders Stakes in rather easy fashion, making practically all of his own pace and cantering home a couple of lengths in advance of Frolic. Wilson.. 805 1:591 The hunters Hat race proved easv for David Stevensons Duke of Roanoke, while Prince won the Ilelter Skelter Steeplechase after a stirring stretch drive. The Seagram stable furnished the winner of the Leamington Handicap in Seismic, which cantered home ten lengths in advance tif Plaudtnore. Seismic had a big pull in the weights and was under a pull to the stretch turn. Jack Atkin won the opening dash in a canter from John iriftin II. Starter Dade sent the field awav to a walk-up start in this race and Jack Atkin. in close pursuit of the pace to the last turn, drew away into an easy lead in the homestretch. A shrewd coterie put over a real good thing in the closing rate in Montclair. backed by bis connections from a high price of 40 to 1 to 12 to 1. W. H. Northey. secretary-treasurer of the Montreal Jockey Club, was a visitor at Woodbine this afteraoon. Mr. Northeys mission here was to secure horses for the Blue Bonnets meeting. John Powers promised to send to New York for several of the horses that he left there. He will ship the lot he has here, including Jack Atkin. to Montreal on Sunday, and Hugh Penny will leave for the same place with a carload on the same day. J. S. Ward anil F. J. Pons have wired from Louisville asking for stable room, and several shipments are expected from New York.
