■f— " + SOME OF THE TWO-YEAR -OLD BARGAINS OF THIS YEAR + * Of the yearlings sold annually many are not long in recompensing their purchasers for the outlay made. The converse of tiiis is that there are others that never return a cent of their purchase price. However, the pleasant side of the matter is in consideration of those that do make good. For instance. Horizon was sold last year for fl7r and has already returned her lucky bayer 35,596. The eonifortahly protitahle outcome of this transaction is ohvious. The crack filly. Bound the World, was sold as a weanling for the still more modest sum of !fl ii and has won this year 0,015. The crack western colt. Covcrnor Gray, is another that was sold when a weanling. He brought hut 75 and has now returned 13,668. In his case and that of Bound tin World the purchasers had to stand a year more of exjicnse of maintenance than if they had beea boaght as yearlings. In view of results they could afford to without regret. Some of the highest-priced yearlings of hist year have not started as yet. hut in the table here published are the names of ten that cost 11,000 or more and all of which have won more than they cost. This is always pleasing to payers of good price* as vindicating their judgment in outstaying ill competition for a good thing.
