MILITARY RACE FOR SARATOGA. Saratoga. N. Y., July 20.— Entries for the Officers Army Service Cup. to be run during the coming Saratoga meeting, will close August 0. and the race will be run August 13. The conditions of the raee are decidedly interesting and are as follows: For horses four years old and upward: the property unconditionally and free from contingency of tbe otiicers of the United States Army, from January 1. 1910. to date of entry. Purse 00. of which 0 to the second and 9 to tbe third. A gold cup of the value of 50 to the regiment corps or staff department to which the winner behssgs. The cup is to be suitably engraved, and is to be retained at the regimental headquarters or at the office of the corps or staff department for one year, when P shall be returned to tbe secretary of the Saratoga Association, to be again competed for. Should it. however, be won twice not necessarily Consecutively! by a representative of the same regiment, corps or staff department, it shall become the property of the said regiment, corps or stafT department. Tbe Saratoga Association will further present: To the owner of the winner — A silver cup of the value of 50. To the owner of tbe second — A silver easy of the value of 5. To the owner of tbe third— A silver earn of the value of 0. Horses to be ridden in drab service uniform by an officer of tbe regiment, corps or staff department f*om which the entry was made. The name of the rider to lie announced to the clerk of the course at or before Cue time fixed for the running of the second race of the day 011 which the race is run. Weight to be carried. 150 pounds. Thoroughbred-. 1 1 pounds extra. Half breds to be announced as such at the time of making entry, or the entry will be considered as that of a thoroughbred . No saddle to be used weighing less than seven pounds. Overweight allowed if declared to the elerk of the se;il.s by the hour fixed for the running of the second race of tbe day on which the race is run. Entries close August 0. 1910. Five to enter and three to start, or the lace may lie declared off. One mile.
