THE GREAT BAYARDO IS BEATEN. Mr. Fairies great horse. Bayardo. with Maher up. was a prohibitive favorites at odds of .l to 20 for the Goodwood Cup, of 1.000 sovereigns, at Goodwood, England. Thursday, but was beaten by II. E. Beddingtons three-year-old chestnut colt, Magic, by Martagon — Sesame, ridden by Rickaby. The odds agaiust the winner were 20 to 1 in a field of only three horses. J. A. de Rothschilds Bud. with Fox in the saddle, was the last to finish. The lietting against Bud was 00 to 1. Magic did not race as a two-year obi and ran second to Rock Lane when be made his debut this year, beating among others Harry Payne Whitneys New Castle. Magic carried 102 pounds as against Bayardos 140.
