GOSSIP FROM KENTUCKY SOURCES. Louisville. Ky., August 5. — II. C. Applegate. treasurer and a direetor of tho New I»nisville Jockey Club, has returned from the east, where he saw the racing at Gravesond. Sheepshoail Bay and Empire City. lie expressed himself as much gratified over the prospeels of brilliant fall racing here this year, and in his opinion the coming meeting will outrank anything in its line that Churchill Downs has seen since the days when such events as tho St. I.oger and the Stallion Stakes were run off here in the autumn, and the late M. Lewis Clark was at tho height of his fame as a racing director. The W. G. Yanke and Co. stable, in which Col. W. B. Applegate is a partner, headed bv the sensational two year old tilly. Round the World, will Inhere in its entirety for the fall meetiiig. The bulk of the Yanke stable will winter here, thouuh trainer Shake, will take a small string to California to race during the cold weather. The stars of the stable, however, will remain in winter ipmrters at rhnrehfll Downs, and Round tho World will get a laag rest preparatory to meeting her three-year-old engagements next season. William Walker is tigiiring on racing at Churchill Downs the coating fall. He will farther streaartbea bis stable for the fall campaign. Mr. Walker has one disapnointnient in a racing way this season, as ;. M. Miller, his .010 two-year-old of BCaVhaa failed to make good. Thoagh the full list of the stakes to be given during the 100 days of racing at Juarez.
