* f WINNERS OF THE FAMOUS SARATOGA SPECIAL | Modelled on the lines of the old-time sweepstakes, where rich events were made up almost wholly of l Oiiiination and starting fees, with but little money added by the racing associations, the Saratoga Special has always been very valuable and much coveted by owners. Heretofore a piece of gold plate has been its only endow meat, but this year for the first time it has an added money value of ,500 in addition to its *2.F0u in gold plate. This year it has twenty-four subscriptions at O0 each, half forfeit, and. as the winner takes everything, it can easily be seen that owners have good reason for ardently desiring the BChiereasetrl of success in its running. Its greatest value was in 190:;. when it fell to John B. Maddeus Aristocracy, and its least last year, when Waldo was its winner. The record of the Special is: Year. First. Jockeys. Wt. Second. Wt.
