NEW YORK BREEDING BUREAU PLANS. Saratoga. N. Y.. August 16. — The following announcement has been made by the Jockey Tub: "Tlie end of racing for tlie season iu this state on September 1 will not bring any lessening of the interest and attention in the several departments of the Jockey Club that were organized for the pnr| ose of improving tlie breed of horses. The motives in organization were sincere and the work will go on as thoroughly and as earnestly as if the turf in this part of the country was at the height of its prosperity. ••Till breeding bureau of the Jockey Club Is one of the branches of the work that is receiving attention. At present its stallions, located in different parts of the state, number forty-seven, and the lineage and individuality of these are of the beat Many of them were stallions donated for tills purpose, when their services would have demanded ami brought rich returns to their former owners, but personal gain was passed over in the desire to bring into the state improved breeding. "In keeping witli promises made when the bureau was organized tlie Jockey Club will offer this fall ■pedal premiums of 0 each, divided as follows: Twenty-five dollars to first. 5 to second and 0 to third, for the produce of stallions placed bv the bureau, foals of 1919 These premiums will be offered through the agricultural societies of the following counties: Jefferson. Erie. Onondaga, Livingston, Westchester. Nassau. Schuyler, Osage, Orange, Madison. Cortland and Fulton. "Reports from those in charge of the stallions placed by tlie bureau show that alwut 2,000 foals have lveon recorded. "The latest stallion to he placed by the bureau is Traveller, a son of Prince of MellKUirne. He has been assigned to the annv |x st at Plattsburg. which is directly across the lake from Fort Ethan Allen. Vt. Here there is sure to lie a big demand for his services, for the recent effort to encourage the improvement of he mounts for the Inited Slates cavalry has brought considerable activity in the horse breeding localities.
