It was a stake race, in which the owner could scratch or add any of his mmi i na t ions, and if either of those substituted had won your wager would have been a winner. W. W.. La Part*, lad. Ordinarily if the bookmaker agreed that such bets should be on the entry when the owner started two or more horses, the bet would be good, but in the case named it was a sidling race in which the owner could start but one borse, ami the bet on Arcite was a draw.
