MANY ENTRIES FOR LOUISVILLE STAKES. Louisville. Ky.. August .r..--Every mail is bringing heavy batches of entries for the ten slakes to be run at the coming fall meeting of the New Louisville Jockey Club. The entries for these stakes will close August 31. Secretary Davis, in all his letters, gets words of cheer from out-of-town horsemen, who are unanimous in the hope and opinion that the meeting which begins here October 1 will be an unparalleled success. Trainer W. C. Westatereiand left tonight for Windsor. He has an engagement to meet 1". J. Tons there and will return to his training stable at Douglas Park next Friday. While at Windsor lie will arrange lor the shipping here of eight horses owned by .Mr. Tons which have been racing in Canada this summer. They are Abrasion. Looia des Cognets. Ben Double. Dolly Kiiltnian. Hoscboro. Lilly Oimleant, Tony Bonero ami Rockcastle, the latter two being recent purchases. Bockeastle is a half-brother to Carthage and is by Dick Welles. He was trained as a three-year-old by .1. B. Bespese, who regarded him as a Derby iKissibility at that age. Trainer Westmoreland let Bd McCloskey have the services of jockey Willie Itranmui to ride Bandy Hill at the Scottsburg. lad., fair this week. Yesterday BraimUn won a live and one-half furlongs heat race with the gelding and he expects to land the Scottsburg Derby at a mile and an eighth. It is notable that every horse that has gone to the fair races from Douglas lark this summer has come back a w inner. Tiie only arrival here today was Dr. W. H. Bott-grewe. who came from Lntonia with a string of foui-. beaded by Fin Oak. Dr. Talbot this morning tired Orifiatnb for a weak tendon. He will be thrown out of training for some time on account of the operation, but his owner hopes to get him ready for winter racing.
