HALF-MILE CIRCUIT FOR KENTUCKY. Movement Follows Success of Pari-Mutuels at May-field Fair Meeting — Arrivals at Latonia. Cincinnati. O.. September 12. — J. E. Ottos string of nine racers arrived at Latonia this morning from Sheepshead Hay track. N. Y.. in charge of trainer Matt B, Phillips. In the consignment were Jeanne dArC, Chemulpo and others, to engage in the fall racing on Kentucky tracks. The horses shipped well. Trainer J. T. Ireland made application today for stable room for eight horses that he intends to race here ibis fall. He will bring with him the good Hly, Cherryola. Kiigene Elrod. who will be in charge of the betting rings on all the Kentucky tracks this fall, arrived today from Mayfield. Ky., where he installed the pari-mutuel machines and presided over the bet-ling during the recent fair meeting held there. He reports that the miituel system of betting was a huge success at Mayfield and that those who at-tended the racing during the live days that the meeting was in progress wagered liberally. Kncour-aged by this success, a movement has been begun to form a circuit of half-mile tracks to include May-Beid, Pad WCak, Fulton anil Murray. All of these places are fair-sized towns and within a radius of .ifty miles. It is the intention to give a five-days meeting at each track, with five races daily, for puraes of 30 and upwards. There is no track at Fulton it present. The twenty days of racing, five days at each track, is to be continuous, and will be Bchedaled for the latter part of August. Mutuel betting is to he established at all the courses named.
