IMPROVEMENTS IN PROGRESS AT HAMILTON Hamilton Out October 24 True to their promise of early summer the directors of the Hamilton Jockey Club have arranged to carry out some elabo ¬ rate improvements to their plant at the end of Barton street and so great are the changes to bj made that the patrons of racing in this city will hardly recognize the old place when the horses come this way next sprihgl The list of improvements includes the erection of a new steel betting ring for which the Ilauiiltop Steel Company has been awarded the contract The new affair will be located where the old wooden shed now stands and will be 1GO feet long and sev ¬ enty feet wide A twenty five foot hood will be built from the front of the grandstand being in proper a steel extension of the prcsQnt roof This will constitute a muchneeded improvement affording longdesired protection to the public from the rain and sun The space between the1 grandstand and the betting ring will be roofed over overA A cement walk will be laid from the gate to the grandstand while the grounds will lie beautified in many ways with flower beds and foliage foliageIn In addition to the above improvements some changes are to be made sto to the stables The old red barns In the northwest s corner of the plant known as the Hendrie stables are being torn down and a modern structure similar to the stables in the east eiid will be built
