AMERICAN ENTRIES IN ENGLISH RACES In Englands five classics of next year are quite a goodly representation of Americanbred and Ameri ¬ canowned horses many of which are still in this country It may be that there are American owners now blissfully ignorant of the fact that their stables shelter twoyearolds eligible to contest next years Two Thousand One Thousand Derby Oaks or St Leger but it Is a fact that Ruivnymede Candidate Zillah LoveNot Spin Swannnnoa Illackfriiir Absconder Lahore Archduke County Chairman West Wind Mu ¬ tineer Seth Danger lark Adam Bede Tripping Sweepaway Cowl Jest Fantasque and The Spy all now in this country in various ownerships are so engaged It is not at all probable that any of them will be sent to England James A Keenes good colt Iron Mask is in the Two Thousand Derby and St Leger and if the New York outlook for racing appears unfavorable next spring might be sent over to meet his engagements but he is the only one of those now here that has shown form in racing good enough to jus ¬ tify his being sent abroad Of horses in England August Belmont has Belfry in the Two Thousand Derby and St Leger and Sands of the Orient in the Derby audiSt Leger Both are sons of Boct Sand and have not been raced Whether they were found wanting in speed or have simply been saved for threeyearold racing is not known Belfry is irom the famous mare Beldame and when sent to England was thought to be a highclass yearling Mr Belmout is represented in the One Thousand and Oaks by Sandwich a daughter of Bock Sand and Teas Over and a halfsister tct Dick Welles She has raced well and in her last essay defeated Mr Whit ¬ neys crack Borrow for the Criterion Stakes at Newmarket Besides this imiiortant success she also won the Halnaker Plate at Goodwood and the First Nursery Handicap at the Newmarket First October meet ¬ ing twoyearoldII Sandwich is a filly of great speed and beauty and may be Mr Belmonts liest twoyearold II P Whitney does not appear to have anything dangerous lit the Two Thousand Derby or St Leger but his chance of winning the two races for fillies the One Thousand Guineas and the Epsoui Oaks is sec ¬ ond to no minis He has the Hamburg Lady Frlyoles filly in the Om Thousand and the only time she has met defer t was when St Nat beat her by a scant half length for the FiftyThird Ascot Biennial Stakes at Ascot last June St Nat is the best twoyearold colt In England and measured by that race she is the best filly Her other races were for the Fitzwilllani Stakes at Newmarket Wilbraham Plate at Xfwmarketand the Mersey Stakes at Liverpool all of which she won easily Her speed is remarkable and if good she should be hard to beat over the Rowley Mile when One Thousand Guineas Day arrives next spring She Is not in the Oaks but here Mr Whitney has fortified himself by the purchase of the splen ¬ did JUly Bashti If she does well over there and rims to her American form she should win the Oaks Of course this is saying a good deal but Jhe English twoyearold fillies of this year are not good and Uashti is unquestionably t highclass young mare of great speed and courage courageOf Of the other Americanbreds Charles Carrolls Night Kider is a sturdy son of Meddler and a good winner but held safe by the best English colts The same owners Queen Tli is a fast iilly but not to be iompured with the Lady Frivoles filly or Bashti Still the Meddlers usually improve over their twoyear old form and this pair may be better in 1011 than this year None of the others now in England has done anything noteworthy Here Is a complete list
