KEEN RACING INTEREST AT JACKSONVILLE Jacksonville Fla Novemlier 10 That the meet ¬ ing of the Florida Live Stock and Agricultural State Fair Association will this winter surpass that of a year ago is indicated by the Interest shown by tlie townspeople The place shows signs of the coming racing season awl is rapidly filling up with strangers from almost every point in the north There are now 400 horses stabled at Moncrelf Park with new arrivals coming every day The stakes this year have filled much better than they did a year ago which was the first season for the ass eiation There are over 1700 nominations tin largest number being for the Derby and the Florida Special Tlie former contains over sixty of the most likely of the twoyearolds that raced in the north this fall Tho Florida Special has an entry list of over fifty These two stakes have been In ¬ creased in value the Derby from 3000 to 6000 while the Florida Special has been increased from 4000 to 000 000The The season which will consist of 100 days of racing will commence on Thanksgiving Day No ¬ vember 24 on which day the Thanksgiving Day Handicap will be run The meeting will l e brought to a close on the first of April with tlie running of the American Derby for threeyearolds Joseph McLennan who was so successful in bringing good fields together a year ago has been looking after the entries this fall as assistant manager to H D Brown The work on the stake books has l een commenced and will be finished within a few days while the program for the first nine days of racing will be made public within a week The class of horses that will be campaigned during the meeting is shown by the nominations which include some of the best horses in training on the American conti ¬ nent Among them are such horses as Sir John Johnson Kings Daughter Donald Macdonald Ef fendi Hanbridge Donau Joe Morris Guy Fisher Tom Hayward John Reardon Polls Pretend High Private Everett Tim Pippin Besom T M Gnen Racquet King Cobalt Jeff Bernstein Emperor Wil ¬ liam and Edda EddaThe The largest nominator is J W Schorr who will be well represented In every stake stakeGallaher Gallaher Bros string reached Moncreif Iark from Lexington in fine condition Ozuiui King Solo man Toisou dOr and Whim were included In the shipment
