EXTRA RACE AT NORFOLK Norfolk Va November 12 An extra race the conditions of which called for horses to be owned by members of the Norfolk Hunt Club was provided by the Jamestown Jockey Club as an attraction this afternoon and it brought out the society clement in large numbers Like most races of this sort It was won by the wellbacked good thing Jim The horse scored galloping away from his company and won by a long margin The sevenfurlongs condition race in which the best field of the afternoon went to the post proved easy for Racquet The latter was making his first effort of the meeting and he won in handy fashion and incidentally made a new track record for the distance On his showing today it looks as If the Randolph stable has a good sub ¬ stitute for Patsy for the winter meeting at Jackson ¬ ville Racquet showed that he is a pretty good sort of a horse and one that will be hard to beat when properly placed With Racquet Aroudack and Be ¬ som the Randolph stable will certainly hold a strong hand at Jacksonville The Belmont stable took another purse when Via Octavia beat the well backed favorite Martin W Littleton The steeple ¬ chase furnished a stirring finish between Gun Cotton and Lizzie Flat with the former just lasting to win by i short head Nick oTime and Essex II ran disgiaccful races and the showing of the former was so bad that the stewards ordered his entry re ¬ fused for the remainder of the ineotlng ineotlngIn In the absence of William P Rlggs who left for Baltimore last night Capt W F Presgrave offici ¬ ated as one of the stewards stewardsSixteen Sixteen layers cut in this afternoon Among them wore Frank Tyler E J Ryan Charles Walters and Gene Austin AustinAbout About five carloads of horses will leave here for Peiisiicola on Sunday next The Jacksonville special will be made up of about fourteen cars Albert Simons W O Scully and E W Ilcffucr will ship to Moneroif Park by express tomorrow tomorrowJockeys Jockeys GHV Burns and Lang will leave tomorrow for Jacksonville
