CLASS CONSPICUOUS AT JUAREZ Character of Applications for Stabling Accommoda ¬ tions Ensures HighClass Meeting El Paso Tex November 14 General Manager Winn is well pleased with the improvements that have been made about the Juarez track since tin close of the last meeting the completion of 340 new adobe stalls being more pleasing to him than anything else as this work was the most important undertaken during the summer months With the completion of the new stalls Terrazas Park will have the distinction of haying more stabling room than any track outside of New York the total num ¬ ber of stalls now at the track being considerably over 1100 The new stalls are patterned after the old ones but are somewhat roomier and have the advantage of being built in rows instead of hi rec ¬ tangular fashion fashionAlready Already there arc over 200 horses stabled at the track awaiting opening day November 4 and the class of the racers seems to be considerably above that of those that were on the grounds at an early period last season Among those already at the track are the horses of W T Anderson twentyone in number seventeen horses belonging to Sam Laz ¬ arus in charge of L II Ezell Powell Parker twelve head R C Benson eleven W P Fine thirteen II R Brandt six Wade McLemore six and J R Walnwrights horses numbering thirteen in charge of Fred Luzader LuzaderApplications Applications for stabling room have been pouring in from all parts of the country but In most cases they have come from the owners of good horses the owners of the poorer class of horses having evi ¬ dently decided that the picking would be easier at other tracks tracksThis This however does not indicate that the Juarez Jockey Club is going to cater altogether to the better class of horses to the exclusion of the poorer class It is true that there will be a rich stake run every alternate day of the 100days meeting and there will be numerous overnight handicaps to en ¬ gage the attention of the horses of class but in addition there will be plenty of races carded for the horses with Jess pretension to class so that the man with a small stable may be enabled to win some ¬ thing In other words the daily card will be framed fa meet the requirements of all classes of horses and every owner no matter how insignificant his stable will be afforded a chance to win a purse The purseThe question of feed which forms an important item of every horsemans expense account has been regulated by the club aiid the liorsSmen will this year be able to procure thebest quality of hay and oats at the lowest possible figure Wftli the distribution of a goodsized fortune among the horsemen during the 100 days of the inceting the latter have not been slow to show their appreciation They have made liberal nominations to the stakes and have shown in every way that thvy are anxious for the success of the meeting meetingWith With an abundance of highclass horses liberally engaged in the fifty stakes and with the best ob ¬ tainable set of officials guiding the destinies of the club it would appear that the forthcoming meeting cannot be anything but an unqualified success successWith With the opening little more than a week away the city of El Paso is beginning to fill up with horsemen and visitors who are here to attend the meeting The hotels are beginning to take on an air of bustle and activity and the hotel managers report having received many applications for the reservation of rooms
