KOERNEK IN GREAT FORM WINS WITH ALFBED THE GREAT JOHN REAR DON AND U CAMBON Unfavorable Weather Fails to Affect the Attendance at Latonia Jockey Gross Dismissed from Service of R F Carman Cincinnati O November 14 Todays racing was featured hy splendid riding on the part of jockey T Koerner who succeeded in winning half the card He inaugurated his series of successes with Alfred the Great and then scored in succession on John Keardon and M Cambon Cold disagreeable weather and an ordinary card1 as compared with former good offerings failed to materially decrease the attend ¬ ance The sport was interesting though replete with surprises and marked by several form rever ¬ sals The most glaring of these came in the second race when Heatherbroom spreadeagled her oppo ¬ nents including Little Father In a prior start when ridden by the diminutive Davies the Cassatt representative lacked speed and was beaten off M Cambon was another winner that had finished last in a preceding start He was favorite today stoutly supported by his connections Ben Trovato in the closing dash was another easy victor that showed vast improvement over his former essay Interfer ¬ ence in his last attempt contributed1 in a good meas ¬ ure occasionAs to his poor showing on that occasion As a result of the poor ride he gave Horizon in her race of Saturday jockey Gross was today dis ¬ missed by R F Carman and departed for other fields The judges were thoroughly dissatisfied with the riders effort on the filly and had given him to understand that unless be showed more alertness he would suspendedIt be suspended It was stated by trainer Darden after the running of the second race that Little Fathers poor perfornf ance was due to the fact that he had wrenched a shoulder shortly after passing the halfmile ground He will be shipped to Nashville to rest for the win ¬ ter George Land secured today from M C Pritchard the contract on jockey Deavenports services and will take hini to Jacksonville to ride this winter Jockey winterJockey Howard was fined 25 by the judges for rough riding in the opener Monty Fox being the one to suffer from it itJ J U Strode general manager of the Pensacola and Tampa tracks arrived today to look after the shipment of those horses from here intended for racing at Pensacola Indications are that at least ten carloads will be sent from here This surpris ¬ ingly large number caused Mr Strode to telegraph his Pensacola associates to start building at once 100 additional stalls to accommodate the horses He reports that in the neighborhood of ISO horses are already at the Pensacola track and that more are arriving daily Five carloads are expected from Jamestown next week and request was also made today by W H Moffltt from New York for stall room for several horses horsesO O D Chenault will ship Milton B and five year ¬ lings to Jacksonville for a short campaign there T Koerner will also go to Jacksonville until the opening at Tampa TampaJack Jack Baker who is in charge of R H Andersons horses including Joe Morris and Alice Baird will ship at the close of racing here to Lexington Where the winterPeter horses will l e rested during the winter Peter Winimer arrived today from Louisville with the filly Beatrice which will be a starter tomorrow He intends to place her in charge of some well known trainer to race this winter Mr Wlmmer will winter at Churchill Downs where he has five yearlings yearlingsEdward Edward Corrigan will ship his ten horses on Thurs ¬ day next from Churchill Downs to Pensacola PensacolaTrainer Trainer L Marion who will sever his connections with the St James Stable at the close of the present racing term will purchase several horses in the near future that he intends to campaign this winter at Juarez JuarezJ J W Majs consignment for Jacksonville for winter racing will consist of twentyfour head in ¬ cluding Countless CountlessLon Lon Johnson and Monte Preston will ship their horses on Wednesday next to Jacksonville JacksonvilleThere There was some disappointment because R P Car ¬ man at the last moment decided not to enter Bonnie Kelso in the Latonia Endurance Handicap to he run tomorrow The following quartet of racers are named to go in the 1500 race Countless T Koer ¬ ner Cherryola Moore Chas F Grainger J Deaven port and Cintrella T Davies DaviesThe The race is attracting a good deal of attention and should be witnessed by an attendance almost the equal of a Derby Day crowd crowdTrainer Trainer S K Hughes has a yearling in his barn at the Kentucky Association track at Lexington on vhich he is sweet The youngster is by St Law ¬ rence II Subdue by Star Ruby and is there ¬ fore a halfbrother to G M Miller It is under ¬ stood a prominent turfman had the refusal of this colt for 2000 last summer but neglected to oJuse the trade Now it is said r000 isasked for hinu Mr Hughes is training him and his owner is a prominent farmer of Woodford County
