MUTUEL MOVEMENT IN MISSOURI Missouri turf men are bopcful of securing a law authorizing tbe use of pariinutuel machines The Kansas City Star says saysThe The parlmutuel machine does not offer so much attraction to tbe big operators as the old bookmaking system but in Kentucky and some othef places it has been used and has prevented the adoption of hostile legislation By that system everyone bets as he pleases arid the machine records the bet After tbe race those who bet on tlie winning horse divide the winnings on a percentage basis There are no odds but each bettor can see from the register how much has been bet on each horse arid figure approximately what odds he is betting bettingainst ainst ainstBarney Barney Schreiber aiid other horsemen have been busy for a month in an effort to organize the horse ¬ men and breeders of the state into a working force to support the bill and it is now settled that it will be Introduced and a fight made for its passage
