NOTES OF THE TURF. S. J. Kelley is making jockey Rooneys riding engagements in Kentucky. Charles Bowman, a well-known layer, has arrived at Salt Lake City for the Lagoon meeting. John Marr. who once trained a string of horses for Rutin and LarRtie. is living in retirement at Lexington, Ky. Jockey Frank Farley, who lias been riding in the Argentine Republic, has arrived at Louisville. He expects to ride at 114 pounds as a free lance during the Latonia meting. Tommy Wright was slightly injured by a fall at the Rose Tree Hunt Club meting at Media. Pa., Saturday. The partnership between him and Ivan Fox has been dissolved. The Latonia Jockey Club has issued a beautiful colored poster advertising the Latonia Derby, to l e run June 10. A picture of last years Derby winner. .To«» Morris, with a beautiful Kentucky girl holding the bridle, adorns the poster. Former Mayor Wright of Ay liner. Ont.. is credited with lioing active in the promotion of a proposition for the construction of a modern mile track on the Kenny farm of 200 acres near Ottawa. Ont. The plans contemplate an investment of 00,000. Two additional entries for the Kentucky Endurance Stakes, at four miles, have been received by .Secretary W. K. Bidwell of the Kentucky State Racing Commission. They are from John W. Schorr and W. E. Nunn. This swells the total subscriptions to sixteen. The date of the closing of entries for this big race is Thursday next. W. K. VanderbilCs Hessian won the Prix du Troe-adero at one mile and three-eighths at the Long-champs course in France Sunday. His La Hire finished second for the Prix du Pare Princes, a three-year-old event at the same distance, stake ,000. Nash Turners Alby was second for the Prix de Neuily. a selling race at one mile and seven-eighths. J. L. McGiunis is at his old barn at Gravesend with six horses, including Bob Vernon. Fair Miss, Cu Bon. Sam Jackson. Killarney Hose and Footlights. Tin latter is the property of George J. Kraus. Kil-larney Rose lias been broken to harness and will be trained by the cart method. Some years back Mr. MeGinnis achieved success training Buttling and Welliourne between shafts. Through the efforts of Manager John Hachmeister the E. A- N. road lias agreed to furnish three trains from Cincinnati to Latonia on Derby day. leaving Cincinnati at 1:1".. 1 ?40 and 1:00 p. m. On neceen lag days the 1:10 train will lie discontinued, but the others will run. A new feature on these trains will be a parlor coach with reserved seats, which will prove popular with those who want to avoid the rush and get to and from the track in comfort and ease. _______
