LAGOON FAVORITES PERFORM POORLY. Salt Lake City. Itah. May 31.— For tlie second day of the Lagoon Fair and Racing Association meet-lug a fairly good crowd turin d out and witnessed a good days sport. The success of but one of the public choices gave the ring much the better of the days argi nt. Hopkins, an unknown rider in this locality, carried off the riding honors by winning with Elsewhere and Muff, the latter being the only winning favorite. The chief attraction of the day was a race at one and an eighth miles, contested by a small, but evenly balanced field, with Round and Round accorded the position of honor in the betting. Kogo trailed her opponents in the early running and gradually overtaking the tiring pacemakers in the last furlong, won with consummate ease. The placed horses in the various mesa were as follows: First Race— Elsewhere Hopkins |, Ostentatious. Mammy. Second Race— Dacia Cavanangh i. Rue. Ralella. lhird Race— Ocean Shore Buxton, Preen, Pickaninny. Fourth Baee Kogo w. Fischer i. Captain Rur-nett. Round and Bound. Fifth Raci — Fereiio Cavanangh, Marigot. Tiflis. Sixth Raci — Muff Hopkins, Sake. BeaJ.ri.tn. Pedro finished third in the last race yesterday.
